What is interim maintenance?

Interim maintenance is a temporary regular payment to cover a shortfall in income needs during the divorce process.

Is it child support?

No. It is a payment by one spouse to the other.

How do I apply for interim maintenance?

You need to apply to the court using form A. Tick the box requesting maintenance pending suit. The court will send you directions that you will need to comply with and list a hearing.

You are strongly advised to seek advice from a family law solicitor before proceeding with this type of application. Costs orders may be made against the unsuccessful party.
